Payroll Specialist

Bergen County's premier Personal Injury law firm, The Law Offices Rosemarie Arnold, is currently seeking an experienced Part-Time Assistant Payroll Specialist to join our team! We are looking for a qualified Payroll Specialist with a minimum of 5 years of Paychex Flex experience to assist in all activities regarding the management of employee compensation and benefits in the company. An excellent Payroll Specialist has great understanding of the concept of confidentiality. You will be experienced in entering data with attention to detail and will have good math skills to make the necessary calculations. The ideal candidate will be a thorough professional with good communication abilities. The goal is to assist with all payroll and benefit matters with speed and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing compensation packages using payroll software- Paychex Flex
• Collect and verify timekeeping information for all employees
• Calculate pay according to hours worked incorporating leaves and overtime
• Calculate bonuses and commissions when appropriate
• Manage and verify taxes and benefit deductions, FSA, HSA, etc.
• Update paper and electronic payroll records by entering adjustments on pay rates, employee status changes etc.
• Assist in Human Resource Administration
• Must have Professional Communication Skills while dealing with Vendors Support Staff
• Assist with initial hire/termination records, unemployment and severance payments
• Assist with complaints and questions regarding payroll from employees and upper management
• Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in payroll
• Prepare and submit reports with payroll information to COO for approval and Controller to fund payroll

Skills

• Proven experience as Payroll Specialist or payroll manager on Paychex Flex software is a MUST
• Familiarity with general accounting principles
• Experience in data collection, entry and reporting with great attention to detail and confidentiality
• Solid knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and regulations
• Computer savvy with working knowledge of relevant software (e.g. Paychex Flex)
• Exquisite math and numerical skills
• Outstanding organizational and time management skills
• Excellent communication abilities with aptitude in problem-solving
• SHRM Certification is Plus

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 25 per week
