This full time role will work daytime hours including weekends and holidays.
GENERAL OVERVIEW
Perform cardiographic procedures, which include electrocardiograms, holter monitor application, holter scanning, cardiac stress testing, and signal average electrocardiograms. Interpret physician dictation, edit and/or type electrocardiograms, coordinate cardiac stress test schedules with the physician’s daily schedules. Maintains accurate department records. Compile billing information and transfer to a cardiologist group.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform cardiac stress tests and adjust protocol for procedures as instructed by the physician.
- Scan halter tapes on computerized equipment and apply holter monitors. Alert physician of any cardiac abnormalities, which may be life threatening.
- Compile, transcribe, edit, type, and distribute cardiographic reports to the appropriate destination. Compile and distribute insurance information for physicians billing purposes.
- Answer telephones, greet caller, take and relay messages, make appointments, obtain requested patient information, give directions and answer routine inquiries according to departmental policies and procedures.
- Perform electrocardiograms and signal average electrocardiograms. Alert physician of any serious abnormalities.
- Check prescription, diagnosis, patient identification, and chart for physician’s order. Clean and disinfect various machines following established procedures .
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum
- High school diploma/GED plus formal post-high school coursework
- Two years experience as an EKG tech with 1 year knowledge of stress testing and holter monitor required.
- Must have a minimum of Heartsaver CPR - Course #1 which includes Adult CPR and Foreign, Body Airway instruction (FBOA). Further requirements are department and unit specific.
