Job Description
Gotham Ready Mix LLC is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll Specialist to join our HR team and ensure our employees receive accurate and timely compensation. The Payroll Specialist will play a critical role in processing our weekly payroll for approximately 130 employees, while maintaining payroll records, processing data, and adhering to all federal, state, and local regulations.
*Please note that the position requires reporting to our office full-time in Jamaica, Queens.*
Essential Functions and Basic Responsibilities:
- Process weekly payroll, including calculating wages, deductions, and taxes.
- Collect, calculate, and input payroll data.
- Gather and verify timekeeping data for all employees.
- Process and monitor garnishment orders.
- Perform proper and accurate payroll codification of employee wages and pay.
- Compute compensation based on worked hours, incorporating leave and overtime.
- Manage daily team time/electronic employee punches and rectify any missing or erroneous punches.
- Collect and audit timesheets for compliance purposes.
- Resolve payroll discrepancies by analyzing information and collecting necessary data.
- Provide accurate payroll information in response to inquiries.
- Maintain adherence to payroll policies, procedures, and report required changes.
- Uphold confidentiality and security of payroll operations.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Collaborate with HR to ensure smooth payroll operations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Strong understanding of payroll principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.
- Excellent data entry and analytical skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills.
- Problem-solving abilities and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) strongly preferred.
