Seeking a Payroll Manager / Payroll Accountant with recent Paychex experience for an immediate start at CitiScape Property Management. The Payroll Manager / Payroll Accountant will process semi-monthly payroll for over 150 employees which are all in California. Payroll includes the following classes:
- Salaried
- Hourly
- Union
Duties include:
- Full-cycle processing of payroll accurately and in a timely manner (semi-monthly payroll for 160+ employees).
- Manage all payroll functions and maintain compliance with applicable policies, contracts, and local, state and federal laws.
- Answer inquiries from employees, customers and regulatory agencies to resolve issues.
- Adhere to best practices and internal control policies and drive process improvements for payroll.
- Analyze and reconcile reports to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Calculate and process manual checks in a timely manner (i.e., termination pay, bonuses, or others as required).
- Reconcile W-2 forms and ensure accurate and timely filing of all employer compliance forms and returns for all applicable jurisdictions.
- Reconcile payroll related general ledger accounts.
- Prepare journal entries and accruals.
- Prepare semi-monthly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports as needed.
- Set up wage garnishments, terminations, and new hires.
- Prepare other reconciliations and journal entries as assigned
- Other duties as assigned or requested
Requirements include:
- 5+ years of payroll experience preferred of 160+ employees
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Recent PAYCHEX experience with Time and Attendance module knowledge highly preferred
- General accounting experience a plus
- Union payroll experience preferred
- Knowledge of relevant payroll related standards, codes, GAAP, regulations and other related requirements
- Strong systems and data flow knowledge; ability to learn and adapt to new software and processes
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills; ability to build solid relationships and establish credibility across all levels of the organization – must be a team player.
- Extensive knowledge in accounting and computer software applications (Jenark a plus)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (e.g., Excel)
- Property Management experience preferred
- Ability to effectively coordinate multiple projects, use time management skills and exercise independent judgment.
- Self motivated, quick learner and detailed oriented
- Ability to multi-task

Compensation: $43 - $55.29 per hour DOE
Schedule: Monday - Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. - This is a hybrid position.
