Job description

In this capacity, the Staff Services Manager (SSM) II (Supervisory) reviews and makes recommendations regarding the interpretation and application of laws, rules, policies, and practices related to Payroll and Benefits. Through subordinate supervisors, the SSM II has full responsibility for the Department's personnel and leave accounting database for 5,000 civil service positions and employees.
The incumbent works under the general direction of the SSM III, Employee Relations and Resource Branch Chief.
The attached duty statement indicates whether this position is eligible for telework. All employees who telework are required to be California residents in accordance with Government Code 14200, and may be required to report to a CDPH office, when needed. Candidates who reside outside of the state of California may be interviewed; however, the selected candidate must have a primary residency in the state of California prior to appointment (and continue to maintain California residency) as a condition of employment. The Human Resources Division (HRD) partners with CDPH's programs and management to provide guidance and consultative services on Human Resources matters that are necessary for the Department to carry out its mission to deliver quality public health services. The HRD is located in downtown Sacramento in the East End Complex across the street from the beautiful Capitol Park Rose Garden.
