This position supports the California Department of Developmental Services mission and strategic plan by providing high-quality and responsive analyses to improve organizational data capacity for evaluation, monitoring, and analytics. The Research Specialist IV is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing analyses to support process, outcome, and impact evaluations of care and supportive services accessed by Californians experiencing or at risk of experiencing intellectual or developmental disability.
The physical office location shall be determined following selection of the candidate. DDS office locations are in the following counties; Sacramento, Orange, Riverside, Tulare or Sonoma.
This position is eligible to participate in DDS' hybrid telework schedule. Participation in telework is subject to DDS' guidelines.

Department Information
The California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is the agency through which the State of California provides services and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities.
These disabilities include intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism and related conditions. Services are provided through state-operated developmental centers and community facilities, and contracts with 21 nonprofit regional centers. The regional centers serve as a local resource to help find and access the services and supports available to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

Special Requirements
The Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) must be numbered in the same order as the following areas, typed in 12-point Arial font, single spaced, and be no more than three pages in length. Describe a situation where you had to make a decision or recommendation when with limited information or significant uncertainty. How did you approach it and what was the outcome?

Describe a project where you had to integrate data from multiple sources into a unified dashboard. What was your role? What tools were used? How did you ensure data consistency and accuracy?

Describe your experience working with large, relational database systems. What is one challenge and how have you addressed it?

Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

• Strong project management and leadership skills to oversee monitoring, evaluation, and analytics projects.
• Strong technical proficiency and familiarity with data analytics tools and technologies such as SQL, Power BI, Tableau or other dashboard and reporting software.
• Understanding of relational database systems.
• Experience developing and assessing the usefulness of process and outcome measures.
