Qualifications:
- Experience in accounting and/or payroll
- Degree in Accounting preferred
- Knowledge of and proficient use of Excel/Google Sheets and Word/Google Docs
- Knowledge of computerized accounting and payroll systems
- Good written and verbal skills
- Accurate data entry skills

- Maintain payroll records, including the computation required to distribute contractual payments and payroll deductions.
- Maintain Employee Administration database.
- Oversee and assist employees with all components of benefit programs.
- Receive and verify absence reports, substitutes' time cards.
- Receive and verify employee time cards.
- Process payroll on computer and reconcile payroll balances and data, which includes entering and verifying benefit and employee deductions.
- Print and distribute paper checks and distribute electronic pay vouchers via email.
- Monitor electronic timekeeping system.
- Process and distribute deduction checks on a semi-monthly or monthly basis.
- Maintain records covering all deductions including wage garnishments.
- Provide payroll, employee benefit and other needed information to the District auditor.
- Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, annually and fiscal year-end reports within required timelines:
- Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund
- Illinois Teachers' Retirement Fund
- Federal and State taxes
- Employee Earnings for the Annual Statement of Publication
- Employee annual tax statements (W2's)
- Affordable Care Act (ACA)
- Prepare correspondence related to payroll as needed.
- Record, verify and reconcile payroll liabilities on a monthly basis and prepare reports.
- Collaborate with the Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent on employee pay matters.
- Provide information to employees regarding pay or deduction inquiries.
- Back-up to Accounts Payable.
- Run ad hoc payroll reports as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned.
