Job Description


The Senior Payroll Administrator is responsible for the administration of all activities related to the multi-state payroll function within the organization. The position serves as the first line of service for employee questions and transactions related to pay, taxation, deductions related to benefits or disability/leave, PTO management, timekeeping, record management, and termination of employment. This position may also assist with general benefit election questions as related to payroll. The position is also responsible for assisting in the development of junior payroll staff, basic reporting and accounting functions to include limited audit, invoicing, and bill payment transactions.
Essential Functions

  • Payroll Administration Operations: Enter, approve, and process payroll information into the HR Information System (Ultimate Kronos Group's UKG Pro), following established company procedures. Perform all necessary processing of payroll transactions accurately by set deadlines. Create and document manual checks. Daily administration, troubleshooting, and compilation of electronic timekeeping data. Generation of regular, manual, instant checks, and ACH submissions for pay. Perform all entries needed for posting to the General Ledger (GL) system and coordination with Accounting on GL reconciliation. Record Management (including, but not limited to: electronic and paper file management, compliance with Federal, State, and Local employment regulations, etc. ) Answer staff or supervisor questions regarding payroll and timecards. Process garnishments/child support orders and payments. Contribution management for available retirement plans. Transactional administration of all benefit and leave programs as related to payroll and requested / mandated leave (disability, FMLA, etc. ). Providing strong customer service to Ent employees in addressing any and all payroll concerns
  • Responsibilities as a Senior Payroll Administrator: Act as first line issue resolution for junior level positions regarding procedural questions and system issues. May submit tickets to UKG for clarification on perceived discrepancies for data entered and HRIS processing / reporting. Stay abreast of emerging payroll compliance legislation. Proactively look for and recommend process improvements to streamline the payroll administration process.
  • Bank Secrecy Act: Remains cognizant of and adheres to Ent policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act.

Qualifications


Minimum Formal Qualifications for this Position

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or similar relevant field.
  • 3+ years' experience with payroll administration.
  • 2+ years' experience with benefits coordination of PTO and FMLA/STD/LTD for employees out on leave. Pref

Each year of relevant work experience may be exchanged for a year in a relevant degree program or vice versa. For example, a requirement of a bachelor's degree in accounting and 2+ years of account experience could be substituted for a high school diploma and 6 years of relevant accounting work experience or a master's degree in accounting and 0 years of work experience.
Technical or Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of all legal requirements and guidelines relevant to compensation, taxation, benefit administration, labor, and wage garnishments.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and investigative skills.
  • Able to independently prioritize workload to ensure deadlines and schedules are met.
  • Strong communication skills for interaction with all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent basic & complex math skills.
  • Basic knowledge of standard accounting principles & practices.
  • Experience using one or more computer/web based payroll processing software packages.
  • (preferred) Exposure to custom reporting software packages such as IBM Cognos.
  • Strong command of Payroll principles and practices

Certifications Required:

  • Cert Payroll Pro Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), Fundamental Payroll Professional (FPP), Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), or similar Human Resources industry certification. preferred

Additional Information


The pay range for this position is: $26 to $33 per Hour (S14)
Final compensation for this position will be determined by various factors such as relevant work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, certifications, and internal pay equity.
This position is eligible for our corporate bonus program based on company performance.
