Patient Representative

The Patient Representative acts as an advocate for all patients, family members and guests. The Patient Representative responds to concerns from patients, families, and other external stakeholders and resolves complaints/grievances in a timely manner. The Patient Representative maintains and reports grievance data to Quality Council. Under the general supervision of the Performance Improvement/Risk Director, assists in the maintenance of adequate health information systems in compliance with all applicable laws, standards and policies. The Patient Representative demonstrates the consistent ability to maintain confidentiality and utilize the “minimum necessary” rule. Position requires direct patient contact.

Part time, 28 hours per week with a flexible schedule.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field preferred.

Experience:

If HS diploma, must have five years’ experience in patient care setting and/or human services field. If BS or BA, must have two years’ experience in patient care setting and/or human services field.

Physical requirements:

Light Work – Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for sedentary work. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job is rated light work when it requires: (1) walking or standing to a significant degree; (2) sitting most of the time while pushing or pulling arm or leg controls; or (3) working at a production rate pace while constantly pushing or pulling materials even though the weight of the materials is negligible.
