The role of a Patient Care Coordinator within the office is to ensure each patient is provided the highest quality of care and that the company is on track to meet goals and expectations. They must balance meeting the patient’s needs with the needs of the office. Acting as a liaison between the doctors and the patients, they schedule appointments, keep accurate records, and communicate with referring doctors as well as their own team about patient treatment.
It is the Patient Care Coordinator’s responsibility to maintain a consistent flow within the workplace and keep lines of communication open at all times. Paying attention to detail and having the ability to predict the needs of the office are key to being successful in this role. When this job is done correctly the day runs smoothly and results in both the team and patient having a successful appointment.
