The Front Desk/Administrative Assistant is under the supervision of the school directors, assisting with tasks as assigned. The Front Desk/Administrative Assistant aides in the customer service of parents and vendors, and the support of staff, sometimes including providing brief breaks for teachers, substituting in their classroom during the break. The ability to multi-task and remain professional in all interactions is crucial as well as maintaining an energetic positive attitude.
*The shift for this position is tentatively 12:30p-6:30p, Monday-Friday.
The Front Desk Assistant is responsible for:
- monitoring child/teacher ratios for goal ratios (send teachers home if they are under ratio); in case of sudden afternoon schedule change for a teacher (for example, they get ill and need to leave), help arrange for coverage if over goal ratio, with admin assistance
- 2:30pm medication administration and form completion
- Warmly greet each person entering, and warmly wish them a good day on leaving
- Verifying identification of anyone picking up a child that is not fingerprinted nor pictured in the attendance system
- Answering telephone professionally and direct to correct person, screening solicitation phone calls, and getting full information for inquiry calls if Admissions Director is not available
- Physical presence at the front desk to provide lobby monitoring unless coverage is provided by admin - Goal is 100% coverage of entryways
- Assisting with any medical or other emergencies as needed, possibly documentation or contacting 911 authorities for assistance
- Assist Admissions with compiling marketing materials for campus tours
- Assist Senior Administrators with various administrative tasks that can be completed while monitoring their regular responsibilities
- Classroom coverage occasionally for bathroom breaks, etc.
- complete closing checklist items, including arming the building security systems
- remain at facility until last teacher has exited the building (typically 6:45pm)
- Maintain dress code, good personal hygiene, integrity
- Complete initial training and attend on-going training (any interactions with children require all the same BFTS training as a teacher)
Decision making authority:
The Front Desk/Administrative Assistant must adhere to the policies and procedures of Foundations for the Future. He / she (assisted by owner / director) is responsible for the overall smooth running of the center’s operations in the afternoons. The Front Desk Assistant is responsible for adjusting his / her routine throughout the day to meet the demands of the center. The Front Desk Assistant must be able to receive and give instructions and be able to work well with all staff members. The Front Desk/Administrative Assistant must be able to address all issues with the children, parents, or teachers in a loving, honest, but firm way. The Front Desk/Administrative Assistant must notify the owner or director of any limitations he / she may have in order to perform the essential functions of the job. The Front Desk/Administrative Assistant is encouraged to ask questions whenever unsure of a policy.
Physical Demands:
Demonstrate full range of motion. Be able to lift up to 40 lbs. Maintain mental and physical alertness and an appropriate level of energy to perform essential job requirements.
Education / experience / skills / requirements:
A desire to work with children through positive interaction is required. Prior experience in childcare is required. Prior experience in management is preferred. CPR and First Aid certified required. Clean police background check required before the first day of work. Good time management, oral and written communication required. Dependable, flexible, and a team player required.

Pay: $13.00 - $18.00 per hour
