The faculty member will conduct their assignments and co-curricular college activities in a manner consistent with the philosophy and purpose of Aims Community College as stated in the school catalog. The primary purpose of the faculty member is to teach. The faculty member is also responsible for scholarly and creative activities (professional development), and service to the college.
Job Duties:
Provide effective and high-quality instruction via various teaching modalities (in person, online, or hybrid)
Assist in program/curriculum evaluation, articulation, revision and development.
Use appropriate computer-based technologies and alternative methodologies to enhance student learning, as appropriate or as designated by Department Chair or Academic Dean
Collaborate in the development and implementation of diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments of learning for students in Early Childhood Education Courses.
Assist the Education Department in program and curriculum review, revision, development and assessment of learning, as requested.
Participate in monthly department meetings to enhance team work and methodology training.
Participate in institutional training activities when possible.
Maintain positive and professional interpersonal relationships with students, faculty, staff, and administration.
Demonstrate a willingness to embrace and apply the provisions of the College’s Mission Statement, Purpose, Philosophy, and Commitment to Diversity.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair or Academic Dean.
Minimum Qualifications:
Faculty must hold, at a minimum, a master’s degree, including at least eighteen graduate-level semester hours in the discipline or closely related field in which they will teach.
Outstanding written and oral communication skills
Ability to motivate students.
Ability to establish and maintain positive and professional interpersonal relationships with students, faculty, staff, and administration.
Ability to work as a team member with a genuine spirit of cooperation and flexibility.
Preferred Qualifications:
One year of teaching experience at the community college level, including experience working with adult and non-traditional learners
Demonstrated experience in alternative delivery pedagogies, e.g. online, hybrid, learning communities.
