Description
The role of a Field Placement Coordinator in the Community Health Worker and Certified Peer Recovery Specialist Program involves overseeing and managing the practical field experiences that students undergo as part of their academic curriculum. This position is crucial for ensuring that students gain hands-on experience in their chosen field of study and are well-prepared for their future careers.
This is a grant-funded position.
This is a part-time, hourly position that is limited to working no more than 25 hours per week.
Examples of Duties
• Identify and establish relationships with potential Field Placement sites, organizations, and businesses relevant to the students' academic programs.
• Collaborate with industry partners to create meaningful and beneficial learning experiences for students.
• Work closely with Program Director to understand the requirements and objectives of Field Placements within each program.
• Match students with appropriate placement opportunities within organizations associated with community health and recovery.
• Develop and conduct orientation sessions for students before they begin their Field Placements, providing information on expectations, responsibilities, and professional conduct.
• Coordinate training sessions or workshops to prepare students for the specific skills and knowledge needed in their placements.
• Conduct regular visits to Field Placement sites to assess the learning environment, provide support, and gather feedback.
• Establish a system for evaluating the quality of Field Placements and ensuring they align with program objectives.
• Address any issues or challenges that arise during a student's Field Placement, acting as a liaison between the student and placement sites.
• Maintain accurate records of student placements, including contact information, learning objectives, and evaluations.
• Ensure compliance with any legal or accreditation requirements related to Field Placements.
• Foster clear and open communication channels between students, academic staff, and placement sites.
• Provide regular updates and reports to relevant stakeholders on the progress and success of Field Placements.
• Stay informed about industry trends, changes in regulations, and best practices related to Field Placements in higher education.
• Participate in professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to the role.
• Attend conferences, workshops, and networking events to build relationships with professionals in the field and explore new placement opportunities.
• Seek feedback from students, placement sites, and faculty to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to enhance the overall effectiveness of the Field Placement program.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate degree or equivalent credits required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years Field Placement experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Fairness and flexibility in understanding and working with a wide variety of students and assisting them with adjusting to the intellectual environment and requirements of a college academic community.
  • Possess the ability to work well and communicate effectively with prospective and current students, staff, faculty, administration, and colleagues and community partners.
  • Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff and a commitment to a student-centered environment.

Paid Time Off:
Employees will earn 1 hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked, as defined by the New Jersey Earned Sick Leave Law.
Pension Benefits:
This position may be eligible for the under the New Jersey State Pension System. The DCRP is a defined contribution plan available for eligible part time employees. Six investment carriers are authorized to provide investment options and service in the DCRP. Employees contribute 5% of their base salary with a 3% employer match. Eligibility in this plan requires a minimum salary of $5,000.
