Job Description
This part-time position is located at the Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center in Buford, Georgia. The role involves performing general janitorial and landscape duties as well as setting up and breaking down for events and programs. This position requires that the incumbent have good communication skills and the ability to monitor activities inside and outside of the facility.
Essential Duties
- Opening and closing the facility, locking and unlocking doors, setting security alarm, and performing daily checks of all points of entry to ensure safety of the building and public.
- Reporting needs and concerns to appropriate staff, which may include submitting or recommending work orders and checking supply levels
- Ensuring proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies
- Promoting continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices
- Assisting in on-the-job training of new staff on routine procedures
- Performing general and routine custodial duties such as dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper and soap supplies as necessary
- Performing event set ups and teardowns of tables and chairs for facility rentals
- Performing cleaning and set-up/tear-down functions
- Emptying trash receptacles, disposing trash into dumpsters and/or other designated containers, and bagging trash for proper disposal
- This position requires continuous interaction with the public and co-workers
- This job may require on-call rotation and emergency after hours, weekends, and/or holidays.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be at least 16 years old
Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of basic janitorial and landscaping duties Good interpersonal and communication skills

The 13 departments that make up the executive side are Police Services, Fire and Emergency Services, Corrections, Support Services, Financial Services, Community Services, Human Resources, Information Technology Services, Law, Planning and Development, Water Resources, Child Advocacy & Juvenile Services, and Transportation. Each department is run by a director who is charged with managing operations in a manner which stresses the County’s values.
In addition to the executive side of County government, certain services are provided through Constitutional officers and independent elected officials. These external offices are created by the Georgia Constitution or through state law.
