Right now we're in need of an experienced Bookkeeper to handle a wide range of AP/AR and general bookkeeping and administrative duties. We are looking for someone who can commit to 20 to 25 hours per week, with availability during normal work hours working on-site at our New Britain facility. You will be part of a fun and friendly team that is passionate about what we do.
Position Summary:
As the Bookkeeper at Alvarium, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial health and stability of our business. Your primary responsibilities include managing and recording all financial transactions, such as accounts payable and receivable, data entry and calculations for payroll processing, and maintaining accurate bank records. You will be instrumental in creating and monitoring budgets, preparing vital documents for tax purposes, ensuring compliance with various tax regulations, and routinely generating financial reports like balance sheets and income statements to provide clear insights into the company's financial status. Additionally, you will handle invoice processing and manage cash flow to ensure that the brewery has sufficient funds for its operational needs. Compensation for this position will be determined based on candidate qualifications.
The primary duties of the position are outlined below.
Employee Related
- Maintain personnel records including W-4 and I-9 forms
- Enter employee information and payroll data into systems
- Calculate commissions and tips
- Track paid time off and process time off requests
- Assist in onboarding and offboarding employees, including processing new employee forms, status change forms, promotions, salary changes and terminations
- Process weekly payroll
- Facilitate initial benefit enrollment, annual open enrollment and benefit changes
AP/AR
- Review, record, and process invoices and payments
- Review and record cash receipts for multiple locations
- Prepare and submit bank deposits
- Maintain all customer and vendor files
- Reconcile credit card statements with receipts
- Set up, monitor and record all automatic payments
- Respond to vendor and customer inquiries
- Assist in resolving outstanding or unpaid invoices
- Monitor company bank accounts, credit card accounts and loans and ensure timely payments are made
Other duties
- Prepare reports for management team and CPA, including cash flow, P&L and state and federal tax information
- Assist in developing and monitoring company budgets
- Assist with cost analysis and reporting
- Provide general administrative support to company management as needed
- Additional duties as assigned
Requirements
Candidates for this position should possess the following:
- A bachelor's degree in a generally related discipline, or equivalent experience
- A Minimum of two years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in a brewery or similar setting
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Excellent organizational and time management skills and strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Great communication skills for interacting with employees, vendors and customers
- Highly proficient with Quickbooks (Quickbooks Enterprise preferred)
- Comfortable working with multiple technology platforms
- Proficient with data reporting and analysis
- Knowledge of brewery operations would be beneficial but is not required
