About Tukwila Parks and Recreation
Tukwila Parks and Recreation is home to 159 acres of parks, 12 miles of trails, Foster Golf Links, and the Tukwila Community Center. The department develops and maintains parks and facilities, and offers a wide range of recreational events, programs, and services for all ages.
Tukwila Parks Department mission statement is creating clean, safe, and well managed parks that inspire activity. The Parks Department is actively seeking a Seasonal Parks Maintenance Worker who is punctual, energetic, enthusiastic, a self-starter, and flexible with the ability to work weekend hours especially during the Summer season.
The Seasonal Parks Maintenance Worker reports directly to the Parks Maintenance Supervisor. The position is responsible for doing park rounds ensuring the sites are neat and tidy. This includes trash pickup, tidying garbage cans, and debris pickup. Also is responsible for setting up and tear down of shelter rentals. Other duties include landscape maintenance tasks.
- Ability to operate mowers, backpack blowers, line trimmers, power tools, hand tools, and related small equipment.
- Landscape and ball field maintenance.
- Assist Journeyman, skilled and semi-skilled workers with tasks such as pruning, trimming, mowing, hardscaping, and pesticide mixing and applications.
- Other duties vary based on specific responsibilities for each position.
- Weekend work may be required.
- Maintenance and repair methods and techniques in area of assignment;
- Basic grounds keeping and equipment maintenance techniques;
- Safety precautions applicable to area of assignment;
- Tools and equipment used in area of assignment; and
- Systems maintained in area of assignment.
- Using equipment and tools properly and safely;
- Applying customer service techniques;
- Operating vehicles requiring less than a commercial driver's license;
- Establishing and maintaining effective interpersonal relationships at all organizational levels and with the public; and
- Communication, both oral and written, sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
- Ability to complete required reports and surveys
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and one year of related maintenance experience in area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides knowledge, skills and abilities sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
- Valid Driver's License
- First Aid and CPR certification
