SCOPE OF WORK
The Contractor shall provide (5) dedicated and experienced paralegals capable of supporting the National Security Division (duties to vary depending on needs of the NSD sections):
1. Establish and maintain files and track case information. Typical tasks may include:
- Serving as the primary custodian of case materials, including grand jury subpoena and search warrant returns; manage case files (including, e.g., correspondence, pleadings, witness files, subject matter files), organizing evidence, conducting and investigative materials, conduct searches, accessing and reviewing case data—including but not limited to the use of eLitigation and data management software.
- Tracking and generally managing the flow of documents and other investigative, litigation or case-related materials—whether with respect to discovery, incoming productions, subpoena and search warrant returns, translations, filter reviews, prudential reviews, or documents to/from other agencies and third parties—to include, but not be limited to, grand jury, intelligence, compliance, and other investigative materials.
- Monitoring public inboxes, interagency data repositories, pulling case information and documents, and saving to NSD case management systems, monitoring, and tracking agreements and related deliverables, and providing support to attorneys performing review, compliance, and oversight activities.
2. Assist in investigations, pre-indictment resolutions, and litigation (including discovery). Typical tasks include:
- Liaising with NSD’s Litigation Support Services and section data management professionals with respect to uploading, organizing, filtering, reviewing, and transferring or producing documents and electronically stored information.
- Assisting with grand jury coordination.
- Conducting internet and other open-source research.
- Performing document review in NSD case management systems, inter-agency records systems, and/or eDiscovery platforms, such as Relativity and Everlaw, and flagging pertinent documents for attorneys.
- Assisting with preparations for trial and other court appearances, grand jury and other presentations, proffers, witness interviews, training sessions, and any other meetings, including, e.g., by organizing and preparing exhibits, attachments, binders, indexes, and tables of contents.
- Providing in-court support as required—whether by operating trial software, assisting with the management of witnesses (including scheduling and travel), or performing administrative tasks.
3. Prepare legal and other documents, correspondence, and related materials, and review written work product. Typical tasks may include:
- Assisting with research, writing, and related tasks—e.g., by creating first drafts of documents such as memos, subpoenas, and discovery cover letters, at the direction of NSD attorneys.
- Conducting cite-checking for case and court filings and legal memoranda; proofreading and formatting complex and various legal documents.
- Prepares various draft compliance and enforcement documents, pre-inspection documentation, and preparation of various legal action memoranda.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Education: Four-year bachelor’s degree required. Recent graduates are preferred.
Experience: Related experience working with a federal or state legal entity or private law firm. Highly organized candidates, who show excellent attention to detail, are technologically savvy, possess strong analytical skills, and work well in teams.
Certification: Paralegal Certificate is not required. Experience can be substituted for certification.

Pay: $22.00 - $35.00 per hour
