The Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream from procurement to design and manufacturing to distribution. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics, segment Procurement and the design and manufacture of Wear Components (Undercarriage and GET) and Maintenance Components (Seals, Tubes & Hardware, Hose & Couplings, Fluids and Filters).
Job Summary:
The Packaging Engineer in Victoria, TX will execute solutions on packaging design and usage and related safety, quality, delivery, and cost

This position is located in Victoria, TX and may provide domestic relocation
10% or less travel expected
What you will do:
Establish packaging and processing specifications at the part number level for new product introductions, cost savings, or other supply chain improvement
Collaborate with all support groups including but not limited to supply chain, operations, quality, purchasing, and engineering
Lead packaging projects focused on cost reduction for inbound and outbound
Lead validation of packaging developed for NPI
Communicate with existing facilities on packaging issues related to receiving, warehousing, and/or line side delivery
Perform cost analysis on current packaging processes and recommend changes where appropriate
Lead low risk Green Belt projects
Perform activities to ensure parts are protected, shipped, and delivered to the customer in a usable fashion
Develop packaging solutions to protect finished painted components
Design for transport efficiency
Perform containerization analysis, testing, and quoting
Validate new packaging and containers during pilot phase
Resolve safety and / or quality issues caused by current packaging
Resolve issues reported by customers and process partners
Develop, communicate and maintain supplier packaging requirements
Audit conformance to packaging specification
Joint Process Improvement with packaging vendors and purchasing
Create packaging concepts using 3D modeling software (i.e. Pro-E)
What you have:
Bachelor’s Degree in Packaging, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Engineering Technology
Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
Manufacturing Application Systems: Knowledge of company and industry databases and applications used in a manufacturing environment; ability to operate, maintain and update these systems.
Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Top candidates will also have:
Packaging: Knowledge of packaging tools, approaches and practices; ability to package products and components safely and attractively.
Project Management experience
Experience working within operations that demonstrates knowledge of material handling equipment and line requirements
Creo or SolidWorks experience
Greenbelt or PMP certified
CPS knowledge
