Job Description
The Home Away From Homelessness Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator (HAOVC) is responsible for connecting students to resources in the community to remove barriers and support the development of their interests and skills. This includes developing and implementing outreach strategies to recruit, train, and onboard volunteers, find program participants' best possible resources and opportunities, and work closely with students and staff to ensure that outreach efforts are coordinated and aligned with the program's overall goals and individual students' needs. The ideal candidate is outgoing, detail-oriented, organized, can manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and has strong interpersonal and presentation skills to develop and maintain community partnerships.

Minimum Qualifications
A minimum of 1-2 years of:
- Managing referral systems and data tracking.
- Community outreach and networking to identify resources and develop partnerships.
- Coordinating projects and events.
- Training and presentations to stakeholders.
- Able to work weekends and holidays as needed.
- Must pass a criminal background check and have TB test clearance.
- Must have reliable transportation & valid California driver's license.
Preferred
- Previous experience as a social worker/case manager.
- Experience helping minorities in San Francisco.
- Bilingual English - Spanish /Cantonese highly desirable.
Responsibilities (included but not limited to the following)
Program Implementation:
- Outreach to local community or private organizations and educational institutions to develop partnerships offering in-kind contributions and recruit volunteers.
- Screen potential partners and volunteers to identify if their resources are a good match to meet the program goals and needs of the youth we serve. (Industries might include, but are not limited to, health care, mental health support, immigration, housing, bilingual/bicultural tutors, and those who can support 6th-12 grade STEM subject areas)
- Serve as the point of contact for partners and volunteers offering services to program participants. (Respond promptly and professionally to all stakeholders)
- Lead partners/volunteers' onboarding process, program orientation, and placement, and offer guidance as needed.
- Design a multi-tier system of support to prioritize students' needs and identify resources.
- Schedule regular meetings with students to build rapport and identify interests and needs.
- Maintain and monitor volunteer and partner records (requirements to work with youth, reimbursements, communication and volunteer hours, surveys, and partners/volunteer appreciation)
- Lead collaborative staff meetings to discuss student needs, referral status, and progress in accessing resources.
- Drive Students at the end of the program a minimum of two times per week.
- Identify and secure summer program scholarships and internships.
- Support volunteers with resources so they have tools to work with students in their academic development.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships and communication systems within the community (families, school district staff, outside organizations, students' external case managers or social workers, and other programs offering potential partnerships)
- Involve students and families in identifying interests and needs.
- Maintain a referral tracking system to ensure students are accessing services as needed.
Program Compliance & Quality Assurance:
- On-going student satisfaction assessment and progress with matching volunteers, organizations, or services.
- Maintain up-to-date student referral system tracking on file.
- Follow youth program quality standards and assist in continuous improvement plans based on youth voice.
- Conduct needs/asset assessment by gathering feedback from all stakeholders (youth, families, partners, etc.) to implement a program improvement plan as needed.

- Monitor 6th - 12th-grade student goals linked to resources and mentorship/volunteer opportunities.
- Ensure volunteers complete an application and a live scan and check references.
- Manage 6th - 12th-grade volunteer schedules and placements, ensuring the program participants' needs are met.
Collaborative Duties:
- Work closely with the Industry Director to develop systems for program implementation.
- Collaborate with the House Program Manager (HPM) and College and Career Coordinator (CCP) to ensure alignment of program design between the MS and the HS program.
- Collaborates with HA staff to ensure functional, clean, and organized space.
- Collaborates with Admin Assistant to develop content for quarterly program newsletters.
- Actively participate in planning meetings to design program goals and evaluate program needs.
- Supports outings and non-program days, including summer offerings.
- Support planning and hosting special events for advisory board members, families, and volunteers.
- Maintain a collaborative management style that welcomes input from team members while offering support in meeting deadlines and job expectations.
- Support scheduling recreational activities and finding guest speakers from the volunteer pool for non-school days.
- Occasionally, assist with implementing meaningful program offerings that meet the needs of program participants to foster their strengths, creativity, and abilities. (1 to 1 tutoring, study/time management skills, socio-emotional learning, goal setting, exposure to new experiences, academic enrichment)
- Ensure the program offers a safe environment where all participants have a strong sense of belonging.
- Ensures space is functional, clean, and organized.
