The Outreach Coordinator's mission is to reduce the number of unsterilized pets in the community, by researching ideal areas to hold free spay/neuter clinics, coordinating these clinics, and assessing the effectiveness of the Outreach Program throughout the service process. This position also coordinates all logistics and activities for off-site adoption and shelter special events.
This position will require the ability to drive large recreational vehicles from time to time. Please keep in mind when applying for this position.

We Require
One year of experience in coordinating and administering public programs and services
Bachelor's degree in communications, public administration, business administration, or a closely related field
A combination of education and experience may be considered in substitution for the minimum qualifications
We Also Value
Experience working in a veterinary clinic, humane society, or animal shelter
Experience driving large recreation vehicles
Job Contributions
Manage the full offsite event schedule, coordinate all logistics and activities for off-site adoption events, and staff program-associated adoption events
Coordinate withlocal schools, churches, and community centers tohostvaccine and spay/neuter clinicsand schedule needed services
Select appropriate animals for program-associated events based on temperament and health and take responsibility for their health and welfare at the event including humane animal handling and sanitation
Develop, write, and summarizereports to track program success formanagement at regularly scheduled intervals
Develop program materials for data collection andinformationdistribution in the community
Contactcommunity members to determine theirspay and neuterneeds;compiledata results to assess needs for further outreach efforts
Maintain program inventory includingcollars, leashes, vaccines, microchips, chip scanners, treats, flea and tick medicine, etc.
Conduct communityassessments via data from Chameleon (shelter software)todetermine "hot spots where most of theunsterilizedstray pets originatefor outreach efforts
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a business office setting; while performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk on all types of surfaces including sometimes slippery and/or uneven and rough surfaces
Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license with the ability to drive a 29' and 31' vehicle
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lb and perform duties that require lifting, bending, and stooping
Environmental factors can be indoors or outdoors, working in the extreme heat of the Arizona summers
Must be flexible and able to work all shifts, including starting as early as 5 amand finishing as late as 7 pm, working weekends and holidays
Employees can beassignedto any shift, with any combination of days off, determined by the Department's needs
Must be able to work independently at events
Frequently handling and exposure to dogs and cats with unknown temperament or behavior
