Optometric Assistant

Job Description:
An Optometric Assistant is responsible for providing support to optometrists in a clinical setting. The assistant will perform various tasks such as preparing patients for eye exams, conducting preliminary tests, and assisting with contact lens fittings. The assistant will also be responsible for maintaining patient records, scheduling appointments, and managing inventory. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for eye exams
- Conduct preliminary tests such as visual acuity, color vision, and depth perception
- Assist with contact lens fittings
- Maintain patient records and update electronic health records
- Schedule appointments and manage patient flow
- Assist with billing and insurance claims
- Manage inventory and order supplies as needed
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a medical or optometric setting preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and electronic health records
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
