The Operations Manager is a pivotal part of our client’s plant management team in advancing the performance of people, and systems in the operations team and mill, to the highest possible standards. The Operations Manager is responsible for the overall day-to-day operation (Our client’s site does run 24/7), leadership, and management of the Paper Mill. The Operations Manager also has a shared accountability for ensuring reliable, cost-effective, and profitable operations of the Paper Mill while meeting and exceeding our client’s quality standards.
What You Will Do:
- Ensure Employee Safety and Safety Compliance
- Responsible for leading all manufacturing employees in safely operating the mill, to meet production, quality, safety, and environmental goals
- Participate in job safety analysis activities
- Maintains a presence on the plant floor, driving two-way communication with all employees
- Ensure quality of product leaving the plant meets/exceeds customer satisfaction with order fulfillment
- Monitor and maintain KPIs on productivity, and budget management/cost management.
- Implement continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and management methods to generate improved plant performance and workflow optimization and efficiencies
- Responsible for inventory and materials management, as well as capital planning and implementation
- Assesses and manages the salaried staff and hourly employees within the mill.
What We Need From You:
- A minimum of 15 years of well-rounded experience managing a union/non union, Paper Mill
- A background in Stock prep
- Knowledge of OCC Regulations
- Knowledge of production processes, raw materials, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
- Track record of excellent judgment and decision-making ability
- Ability to successfully work to reach company goals in an environment in which a wide degree of creativity and latitude is required
- Ability to effectively set and communicate expectations & directives to manufacturing/production staff
- Results-driven, analytical, self-motivated and detail-oriented with the ability to logically identify alternative solutions or approaches to complex problems
- Must have demonstrated accountability at the plant management level and have a strong track record of successful execution
- Demonstrated success as an innovative manufacturing leader
- Demonstrated ability to manage operations efficiently and effectively with excellent communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills
- The mill is a 24/7 operation – MUST BE FLEXIBLE
- Must be versatile in Data Analytics
Physical Requirements:
· Exposure to outdoor elements when traveling on foot between facilities
· Wear personal protective equipment as required
· Position requires onsite presence
