Our client is seeking an Operations Manager in the Aerospace industry!
The Operations Manager is responsible for the overall execution of the manufacturing plan. Works with clients and internal resources to provide the fabrication and delivery of products. Manages a team of supervisors to guarantee product fabrication and delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the overall planning of production to meet forecast requirements on scheduled deliveries and to ensure maximum utilization of plant personnel and facilities.
- Responsible for the development of manufacturing operating effectiveness required to ensure continuing effective operation of manufacturing facilities.
- Defines and recommends manufacturing objectives; develops specific short-term and long-range plans and programs together with supporting budget requests and financial statements.
- Responsible for the manufacture of all company products at the lowest cost consistent with established specifications as to quality, quantity, and schedules.
- Ensures prompt and economical purchase of required materials and supplies and delivery of finished products to customers.
- Responsible for maintenance of the inventories of semi-finished and finished products at proper levels, both as to quantity and value, consistent with the budgets and forecasts.
- Directs preparation of progress reports, manpower, and facilities requirements forecasts.
- Responsible for installation and maintenance of all processing equipment used in manufacturing.
- Develops and recommends manufacturing policy and establishes the Manufacturing Department's operating policies.
- Coordinates and collaborates with other departments of the company in establishing and carrying out responsibilities.
- Formulates and installs standard practices based on comparative studies of methods, costs, and production figures.
In addition to the above, Managers are to maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area using safety standards and expectations while adhering to all quality practices.
Qualifications:
- Must have a college degree in science/engineering or the equivalent in progressively responsible technical experience in addition to the experience described below.
- Minimum of ten years of diversified and progressively responsible experience in medium-sized or major metal shops, including five years in supervisory positions, two years of which must have been spent on a level immediately under that of the General Manager.
- Demonstrated proficiency in industrial leadership and planning, layout, and production of complex metal trade shop operations.
- Language: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to establish cooperative relationships at all levels.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, written and oral instructions. Ability to solve problems involving many variables in various situations. Ability to analyze, interpret, and modify complex technical and organizational problems and consolidate essential facts and figures objectively.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, etc. Ability to use shop mathematics.
- Other Abilities: Must know MAPICS manufacturing software; MS Excel spreadsheet software, MS Word, and Word Processing software. Must be able to lead a cross-functional team of supervisors in a fast-paced, changing environment. Must be able to withstand subjective pressure in defense of final decisions.
