What You Will Do
The Weapons Facilities Operations (WFO) Facility Operations Directorate (FOD) is responsible for facilitating mission execution at DARHT (Accelerator Facility), the High Explosives (HE) Sciences, Firing and Detonator Facilities and at the Weapons Engineering Tritium Facility (WETF).
It is the responsibility of the FOD to ensure that the facilities are operated and maintained in a safe and secure manner and in a ready state for mission execution. The FOD provides organizational leadership for facility Maintenance; Operations; Environment, Safety, Health (ESH); Quality; Waste Services; and Engineering.
As an Operations Manager 4 you will have the ability to manage and oversee operational activities outlined at the lower level independently or with minimal supervision. You will develop and administer operations-related plans, budgets, and policies and procedures. Participates in strategic WFO initiatives and process improvements in conjunction with programmatic customers and other LANL institutional organizations.
This position will partner with programmatic customers to strengthen operations, improve safety culture, and increase operational formality by bringing the right expertise together to encourage organizational learning, better understand the needs of stakeholders and customers, and enable simultaneous excellence to better deliver on the national security mission.This posting is under the Associate Laboratory Directorate for Weapons Engineering (ALDW).
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Leadership
• Ability to oversee a wide range of management functions, including directing a plan of the day, collaborating with project management to oversee projects conducted within the WFO footprint and integration with programmatic operations.
• Demonstrated commitment to the professional development and mentoring of employees, and competence in leading teams and building rapport with employees, peers, and supervisors.
• Demonstrated record of promoting teamwork, consensus building, mentoring and motivating peers and subordinates across division lines.
Communication & Collaboration
• Demonstrated experience in building collaborative relationships and effectively communicating internally across groups, divisions, and directorates.
• Demonstrated experience in effective decision-making and creative problem solving.
• Demonstrated ability to successfully interact with regulatory and oversight agencies and personnel.
• Excellent oral/written communication skills to include presentations and report writing.
Financial Acumen
• Demonstrated experience in developing a budget to address infrastructure needs over a multiyear period and communicating fiscal issues with appropriate supporting justification.
Education/Experience: Position requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and 8 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications:
• Has extremely broad expertise and knowledge of Information Systems and uses skills and expertise to develop institution-wide processes, products, and services and to achieve goals in creative and effective ways.
• Significant experience identifying and implementing software solutions that improve productivity and/or transparency.
• Ability to translate technical terms to layperson's terms and present them to non-technical audiences.

Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.
Clearance: Q(Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the required period of continuous service, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader.
