Parking, Transportation and Postal Services is responsible for providing services to the campus community to include: management of parking resources, providing parking and shuttle services for campus events, on & off campus shuttle services and managing inbound and outbound packages and letter mail for resident students and campus departments.
The Operations Manager will oversee staff and manage the daily operational functions associated with the Parking field operations and Postal Services programs to include; Event coordination and execution, Enforcement, field maintenance and Postal Services operations. The Operations Coordinator is responsible for ensuring all operational tasks for their area are completed in a professional, timely and efficient manner while complying with department and campus policies and procedures.
Responsibilities and Duties
The Operations Manager may be assigned to tasks in one or more of the sections below, based on the operational needs of the department.
Event Coordination and execution
- Make management decisions regarding how best to approach, execute and support events. Make decisions on what services can and will be provided. Oversee and manage activities related to parking events, to include serving as the primary contact to coordinated support, execute and finalize event billing and records. Responsible for coordinating with vendors for services, staffing, etc. Ensure appropriate communication is provided to campus and customers regarding events that will impact parking.
Enforcement & Account Research
- Responsible for all operational aspects of Parking Field Operations to include enforcement, event field management, special projects, and coordination and/or completion of general parking facilities maintenance. Manage logistical support for set ups, breakdowns, and posting of roadway signage for events, construction etc.
- Responsible for researching and making decisions about towing, suspending the issuance of citations, voiding citations, exceptions, ect.
Postal Services
- Oversight and management of all operational aspects of post office to include Departmental & Student Mail & packages, Special Deliveries, Bulk Mailing services, retail Services etc. Responsible for ensuring compliance with state, federal, and campus policies, procedures, and laws to include USPS Regulations, Driver Clearances, Accident reporting, Drug Screening Compliance, Employee Training etc.
- Oversight of Postal related Software and hardware, to include coordination with IT support and/or vendor to address, resolve etc.
Administrative Tasks
- Responsible for ensuring professional customer service to include responding to customer inquiries and resolving issues. Ensure policies and procedures are created and updated as necessary.
Personnel
- Responsible for all personnel tasks to include recruiting, training, personnel management, reviews, etc. Ensure staff are properly trained and meeting expectations. Track and review team member performance to ensure professional and efficient service, proper enforcement, package/mail distribution & team member compliance with established policies & procedures, etc.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's Degree with two years of related work experience.
- Must be comfortable managing staff, dealing with difficult customers and situations. Must be able to work with industry specific technology. Be detailed oriented and able to adjust to constantly changing requests and other situations while maintaining operations.
- Must be able to see big picture and make decisions and adjustments based on the situation and other things that could impact operations to include events, closures, policy changes, weather etc.
- This position requires excellent verbal and written communications skills, excellent organization skills, ability to multi-task, professional demeanor, ability to work with sensitive and confidential information, team oriented and ability to remain calm when faced with problems while quickly identifying and implementing solutions.
Services provided by the department, and in particular this position, will require the incumbent to have the flexibility to work modified work schedules to include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Salary and Benefits
Salary starting at $58,000, commensurate on experience, and full University benefits that include 22 days of annual leave, up to 15 holidays, personal and sick days; excellent health, life, and retirement plans; and tuition remission.
