Tesla is seeking a motivated and talented individual to work in Austin Factory’s Operations Control Center that monitors and manages the factory in real time. This person will be responsible for monitoring the flow of product thru the different shops of the factory to ensure that production output is being maximized. Their goal is to be looking ahead to prevent issues and when issues occur, stepping in and working with all required groups (Shop Leaders, Production Control (material flow), Master Scheduler, New Product Introduction, Material Planning, Logistics etc.) to develop the action plan and lead implementation to facilitate quick recovery to minimize impact on overall performance. Candidates will work night shift.
What You’ll Do- Monitor the flow of cars and parts through the entire Production Shops to ensure they are achieving the plans set for them
- Reporting our KPI and Hourly Production Reports to Management
- Act as a leader / point of contact for the factory when issues arise (e.g. material shortage / equipment breakdown / quality issues). You are responsible for pulling the appropriate resources together to develop a plan (e.g. change the near-term mix, deviate to a different part, pull from service) and action it to protect production output
- Identify & articulate the risks that exist to factory due to the current state of the system and recommended action
- Identify structural issues / opportunities for improvement to the systems, processes or structure based on the operational performance you monitor and communicate this back to the key stakeholders to act
- Work with NPI on trial management
- Inventory management of sub-assemblies’ parts (ASRS, FG overall WIP buffer), flag min/max levels (standardized high-level picture)
- Other duties as assigned by Production Controller/Manager
- 2+ years related experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Open-minded, collaborative, and team-oriented attitude is a must
- Self-motivation and resourcefulness are required
- Ability to solve problems in a fast-paced work environment with minimal supervision is required
- Being able to deal with multiple stressful situations at the same time
- Strong work ethic required
