On-site data Center and Help Desk Technician:
We are inviting applications for an entry-level on-site Data Center and Help Desk Technician to become part of our growing team in the Phoenix, AZ metropolitan area. The ideal candidate for this position is looking to enhance their technical skills in a practical, real-world environment by facing a range of hands-on tasks and challenges. We value a professional and positive attitude, and we're keen on finding individuals who are eager to learn and grow within a supportive team setting. This role is designed for individuals towards the start of their career which will provide the opportunity to further enhance their skillset by delivering prompt technical support to our clients and ensuring their needs are met with professionalism.
Typical daily tasks:
· Hardware/server assembly, maintenance/repair, racking/unracking, upgrading/downgrading components, and cable management.
· Perform Linux-based OS installations, common control panel installations (Webmin/cPanel/etc), and custom partition layouts.
· Basic switch/router setups, adding a subnet to an interface, and basic connectivity troubleshooting.
· Retrieving assets from 3rd party shipping departments, oversight of asset transfers from shipping departments to secured company locations on site.
· Documenting / labeling all devices and cables in accordance with company standards.
· Provide direct first response and/or technical support to inbound customer tickets, chats, and phone calls.
· Troubleshoot server no boots, disk drive, or component failures.
· Provide escorts to clients as needed.
· Minor cleaning and organization of workspaces.
· Provide basic sales assistance to customers through tickets, phone, and chat.
· Recognize when/who to escalate tickets to, should the need arise.
· Additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
· Fluent in written and spoken English.
· Technically minded with a passion for the latest technology.
· Possess a minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent.
· Must be able to see distinguish different colors, read small print, and hear and recognize audible sounds (i.e., beep from server).
· Able to lift 50 lbs and move (push/pull) 75 – 100 lbs.
· Able to work from a ladder and confined spaces.
· Reliable transportation.
· Ability to sit, stand, kneel, or squat for long periods of time.
· Have an overall positive mindset with a professional approach to communicating with customers and team members.
· Able to collaborate and troubleshoot technical issues through tickets, phone, and chat.
· Confidence in troubleshooting scenarios where the answer is not immediately apparent.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Knowledge of:
o Server hardware.
o Linux and LAMP/LEMP stack proficiency.
o Comfortable using Linux at command line level.
· Ability to:
o Work independently, often alone, while maintaining productivity.
o Prioritize the workload to meet deadlines.
o Multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
o Document problem resolution summaries.
o Identify issues and troubleshoot as appropriate.
