How will you make an impact in this role?
You will be responsible for leading and/or coordinating strategic and tactical activities required to support complex Data Center Infrastructure including “base building” critical systems and data processing specific components, networks and systems.
Organizational Context
Collaborates with leadership, Project Managers, customers and strategic partners to address business priorities, new products or services, and advanced problem solving requiring good judgment and quick action. Reports to DCI Manager or DCI Director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform advanced level forensics, problem identification, and performance testing in the associated infrastructure subject area
- Comprehend industry terminology, trends and standard methodologies related to the physical layers of facility infrastructure and/or data processing architecture
- Perform complex system configuration, architecture set-up, and long range planning
- Craft, edit and approve detailed installation, maintenance and fixing procedures
- Apply expertise and experience to analyze various Data Center component and system configurations to optimize performance
- Examine failures for trends and causative factors, developing and/or performing corrective actions independently. Identify root cause of failure, risk assessment and mitigation plans
- Use sophisticated data capture, monitoring and recording equipment to analyze data; make timely and effective decisions; provide technical recommendations to leadership; and execute solutions
- Install equipment and terminate cables while working in proximity to hazardous electrical voltages
- Install, terminate and attach network cables without interrupting adjacent business critical connections
- Call out Data Center availability risks to DCI leadership
- Deliver action recommendations in support of BAU and recovery operations
- Support leaders in developing, implementing and applying policy, standards and procedures
- Lead individuals or a team of highly skilled technicians performing complex operations, data processing hardware installation projects, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of electrical, mechanical systems and components
- Cross-train, mentor technicians and peers in relevant skills to support department succession planning and employee development
- External contact with suppliers of test equipment, equipment maintenance and contractor services. These contacts are critical in maintaining current knowledge of product and services that benefit Technology
Minimum Qualifications:
- 1+ years experience in Tier III-IV Data Center environments
- Experience in associated infrastructure field, e.g. electrical, electronics, mechanical, data processing hardware, telecommunications and/or networks, BICSI Installer 2 certification
- Experience as a DCI Technician or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
- AAS, vocational, trade school or experience in associated infrastructure field, e.g. electrical, electronics, mechanical, data processing hardware, telecommunications and/or networks, BICSI Installer 2 certification
- Advanced knowledge of EIA/TIA cabling standards and standard methodologies. Ability to accurately perform cable testing/certification
- Expertise in infrastructure or data processing based systems and equipment, with shown analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite desktop applications
- Ability to trend, graph, chart and compile data into presentations
- Ability to effectively communicate complex Data Center Infrastructure subject matter to
leadership and lay audiences
Salary Range: $84,000.00 to $139,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
