The Office Assistant role involves providing clerical support for various health department programs. Responsibilities include answering and directing phone calls, managing mail, scheduling patient appointments, handling patient check-in and check-out, collecting and recording insurance information, processing payments, and assisting patients with overcoming barriers in utilizing healthcare services. The assistant should be able to communicate with partnering organizations and correctly complete documentation in accordance with policies. Strong computer skills are highly beneficial in maintaining the duties expected.
Experience:
- Previous experience in an office setting or similar role is preferred
- Familiarity with office equipment and computer systems, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of phone systems and ability to handle multiple phone lines
-Experience with public health programs is preferred but not required
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and document preparation
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
Please note that this is not a medical receptionist position. While experience as a medical receptionist may be beneficial, it is not required for this role.
