Job Description and Duties

Under direct supervision of the Office Services Supervisor I (OSSI) (Typing), the Office Assistant (OA) (Typing), will assist in answering incoming calls, providing front counter assistance, handling counter sales of accident reports, contacting vendors for services required, preparing service order documentation, and miscellaneous items. Other duties include, but are not limited to: processing CHP 180 Vehicle Reports, citations, and related documents; maintain the log of CHP 215s issued to Area and the 215/267/281 filing system; responsible for handling, processing, and maintaining files including collision reports, arrest reports, receipts for mail requests, and writing receipts for subpoenas; responsible for reconciling invoices and other documents for payment; responsible in providing all requests for Public Records; will assist in preparing the quarterly order requisition, miscellaneous requisitions and miscellaneous office supply orders; and could be tasked with miscellaneous typing assignments, provide back-up as needed for the OSSI along with other job-related duties.

Special Requirements

  • The position(s) require(s) the ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications (link available in the additional documentation section). You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed, prior to being hired. Additional information regarding acceptable typing tests is available at the CalCareers.ca.gov website.
  • The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
  • The Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) serves as documentation of each applicant’s ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing. Each question must be numbered and addressed in the same order as the questions below. The SOQ must be typed, no more than two pages in length, and 12-point Arial font.
  • Explain the nature of your experience in maintaining confidential information. Was this information hard copy or electronic? How did you ensure that there was no breach in confidentiality?
  • Describe your experience providing excellent customer service.
