Title: Staff Accountant

Location: Mostly Remote – currently working in the Ashburn, VA office 2-3 days/month. Subject to change. Must be local to D.C. Metro.

Clearance: Clearable US Citizen

Work hours: Full time, approximately 40 hrs/week. Workload and additional hours will fluctuate based on business needs.

Our great client is searching for a hands-on Staff Accountant to support its internal Accounting Department. Great company with lots of growth! Responsibilities:

Approximately 50% of the job is Payroll:

• Register and manage payroll tax accounts; respond to state inquiries
• Manage correspondence with payroll service provider regarding various tax notices
• Manage correspondence with employees regarding any payroll related questions
• Compile and process semi-monthly payroll to include tracking adjustments, working with HR on benefit changes, etc.

Other 50%:

• Setting up new vendors in the accounting system
• Review and process general AP vendor invoices
• Review and process employee expense reports
• Perform credit card reconciliations
• Process weekly check runs and facilitate online vendor payments
• Following up with employees on timesheet submissions
• Assist with special projects and other accounting duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• MUST have worked for a small government contracting company with multiple responsibilities including A/P and A/R.
• Experience with one or more of the following accounting systems: Microsoft Dynamics NAV, Deltek Costpoint, Deltek GCS Premier, or Jamis.
• Candidate must be able to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
• Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, work effectively in a team environment and meet deadlines
• Excellent communication skills – interfacing with customers and vendors
• Expert skills in Microsoft Excel and proficient in other Microsoft products.
• Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain a government security clearance.
