South Side Help Center's mission to serve people and strengthen communities is done by providing direct prevention and intervention services designed to enhance the quality of life for individuals, families and community. With a compassion for people, commitment to service, motivation to affect change, and knowledge about your role and responsibilities as a Psychosocial Counselor you will help to fulfill this mission by providing non-clinical supportive and crisis counseling activities that address the emotional, social and practical needs of HIV/AIDS diagnosed clients within our target population.
Your experience in counseling, working with diverse populations and knowledge of issues impacting people living with HIV is vital in providing compassionate and quality care in the area of support groups, individualize sessions, recreational outings, caregiver support, bereavement counseling, provisions for pastoral counseling, etc. The PSC III will provide information, resources and activities that support an individual's ability to sustain a positive healthy lifestyle, which include understanding of treatment options, holistic and alternative therapies (meditation, visualization, etc.), and other areas appropriate for group socio-emotional support. The PSC III will offer relevant services to aid in the continuity of medical care, treatment and viral load suppression.
Your position as a Psychosocial Counselor will contribute to the success of South Side Help Center by lending a hand when needed, showing flexibility, paying attention to details, adapting to change and thinking of your role as a part of the larger SSHC team rather than exclusive.
