SMX is seeking a Network Administrator to provide operation and maintenance support systems and/or networks to include system administration, troubleshooting and repair of existing systems and/or networks. The Network Administrator will join our dynamic team to provide 24/7 support, ensuring network connectivity, full-motion video feeds, and general IT ownership.
This position requires a DoD TS/SCI security clearance which requires US citizenship for work on DoD contracts.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Administrate network hardware including routers, switches, hubs, gateways, access points, network interface cards, networking cables, firewalls, and other related hardware
- Monitor and respond to hardware and software problems utilizing a variety of hardware and software testing tools and techniques
- Configure and install network hardware and software
- Support end users with technical support and training
- Maintain the security of the network
- Provide troubleshooting and resolution for network infrastructure and components
- Gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; develop and implement strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong understanding of fiber- and copper-based Ethernet technologies, capabilities, and cabling, as well as local and wide-area network connectivity is required
- Experience with Cisco configuration of OSPF and static routing, mGRE Tunnel, QOS, DHCP, ACLs, IPSec (as implemented with HAIPE devices)
- Experience in DoD or other Government Unclassified and Classified Systems/Networks, Cisco Routing and Switching, Network Engineering, Network Testing, and Implementation planning
- Experience implementing, modernizing, and transitioning C5ISR communications technologies
- Strong understanding of the use and configuration of encryption devices (KG-175D, KG-175F, KG-175GM)
- High School Diploma/GED with 8 years of related experience, or Associate Degree with 6 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree with 4 years of experience, or Master's Degree with 2 years of experience
- Required certifications:
- CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent Computing Environment (CE) certification
- DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II Computing Environment (CE) Certification
- Active Cisco CCNA certification or equivalent level of vendor certifications
- Position may require lifting of objects up to 50lbs
- Ability to work shifts to cover 24/7 operations (weekends, holidays, etc.)
