Network Administrator - Command and Control Network (C2NET) - Mid-Level - TGAE

Astrion has an an exciting opportunity for a Command and Control Network (C2NET) Administrator located at the 96 Cyberspace Test Group (96 CTG) at Eglin AFB, FL, supporting the Astrion Air Force Division.This position provides system engineering support to the 45 Test Squadron Cyberspace Test Range flight. C2NET is a collection of RDT&E enclaves that provide a safe, secure, and compliant digital space for mission partners and other stakeholders to perform test missions and experimentation, be that through developmental test, integration, or other activities.

 

LOCATION: Eglin AFB, FL

JOB STATUS: Full Time

TRAVEL: 0-10% CONUS/OCONUS TDYs

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

 

  • Technical Bachelor's degree, or additional years of qualifying experience
  • A minimum of 3-10 years of work experience, or additional years' experience for degree substitution
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance is required for consideration (U.S. Citizenship Required)
  • Current DOD IA Technical (IAT) Level 2 certification within 6 months of employment in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M DoD 8570 directives and supplementing AF regulations; AFMAN 17-1303 based on position responsibilities.
  • Experience installing, configuring, managing, and troubleshooting enterprise networking hardware
  • Demonstrated ability to perform simple hardware component troubleshooting for networking platforms such as line cards, small form-factor pluggable (SFP) modules, etc.
  • Must be able to independently establish and troubleshoot end-user client connections and network cross connects for copper and fiber optic ethernet drops
  • Working knowledge of standard client-facing network-based services such as DHCP, DNS, and NTP
  • Deep understanding of general IP routing theory, including static routing and dynamic routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF
  • Demonstrated understanding of Ethernet switching concepts including protocols such as STP, VLANs, and LACP, as well as port security concepts such as 802.1X
  • Ability troubleshoot and securely configure ACLs and/or firewall rulesets
  • Must be able to effectively communicate orally and possess technical writing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively on a team and lead/direct the work of others
  • Ability to perform job duties independently and with minimal supervision

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting the following networking platforms commonly used within C2NET enclaves:
    • Cisco Nexus switches
    • Cisco Firepower security appliances
    • Cisco ASR routers
    • Cisco ISE appliances
    • IP-based datacenter KVMs for out of band management
    • Corning EDGE fiber panels for client and cross-rack connections
    • Cisco IOS XE
    • Network Management Systems
    • Software-Defined WAN
  • Experience working with an IPAM or ground truth solution such as NetBox
  • Clear understanding of IPv4 and IPv6, their differences, and how to manage a dual stack network
  • Demonstrated knowledge of enterprise high-availability features such as HSRP, port channel groups (LACP/EtherChannel), virtual port channels (vPCs), gratuitous ARPs, etc
  • Experience with network services, common network protocols, and the ability to install and configure network equipment to include software, VPNs, routers, switches, and other physical hardware
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products including Visio
  • Understanding of campus LAN and WAN technologies and concepts
  • Understanding of development test and evaluation processes, specifically the DoD Acquisition Lifecycle for program development and detailed knowledge of Air Force C2 test methodologies including DODI 5000.89_DAFI 99-103
  • Knowledgeable with the system development lifecycle, architecture, configuration, and security methods

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide enterprise networking expertise and support to the overall C2NET team
  • Serve as a Network Administrator for the 45 Test Squadron Cyberspace Test Range flight to include secure provisioning, maintenance, and operation of all network equipment within C2NET enclaves
  • Provide technical input to network planning and management with regards to enterprise requirements, physical and logical network distribution, network security, etc
  • Install and configure user-facing networking devices as well as core datacenter assets including routers, switches, and firewalls
  • Ensure installed hardware complies with TEMPEST requirements by ensuring proper displacement between classified and unclassified systems
  • Some duties may include tasks such as lifting equipment up to 50 lbs., accessing a sub floor by removing floor tiles, and accessing enclosed spaces
  • Create, install, and troubleshoot network cabling (copper and fiber optic)
  • Create and update network diagrams
  • Apply DISA STIG controls to network devices
  • Provide end-user and cross-team support
  • Manage tasks via a ticketing system
  • Attend required technical and security training (e.g., operating system, networking, security management)
