Job Duties
Virginia Military Institute is accepting applications for a Multimedia/Help Desk Support Technician. AV technician will provide "front line" operational and technical support on the VMI Post including but not limited to: multimedia systems and applications support, faculty and staff training, asset management, new AV system commissioning, and statistical reporting for Media Support Services. To coordinate the support of these systems and services facilitates the institute's quest to meet the instructional, research, and training efforts and to produce high-quality learning spaces that improve graduation rates and graduate success in the workforce.
Job Duties:
• Provide front line operational and technical support for the AV equipment in
classrooms/labs across Post.
• Train faculty on AV classroom equipment.
• Provide telephone, walk-in, and e-mail support to the Faculty/Staff Help Desk as needed.
• Accurately document work orders in Help Desk Ticketing System.
• Other duties as assigned.
This position will be required to work in person at the Virginia Military Institute.
Minimum Qualifications
• Experience with multimedia AV classroom systems.
• Dependable with an excellent work attendance.
• Able to follow instructions.
• Detail oriented with IT skills to perform basic troubleshooting.
• Must work well with minimal supervision.
• Must be self-motivated and use time wisely.
• Must have a positive attitude.
• Able to work well independently as well as in a team setting.
• Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Excellent communication skills (oral, written, and listening).
• Professional appearance and dress.
Additional Considerations
• Experience with Crestron Control Systems.
• Knowledge of video and audio network transmission such as video conferencing, video streaming, and lecture capture.
• Associate's Degree in Information Systems or similar field.
• Previous PC technician experience.
• Previous MAC experience.
• Previous Help Desk experience.
