Slable is a small I.T. consulting firm (managed services provider, or MSP) based out of Fairfax, VA. We offer computer/network support, VoIP telephone systems, website/server hosting, and much more. While our office is in Fairfax, we service businesses across the D.C. metro area.
We are looking for additional reliable full time technicians working on a scheduled and an on-call basis to assist with our day-to-day operations which include servicing computers, phone systems, and networks. Depending on the day you could either be out in the field or at a desk in our office.
Prior experience working at an MSP is a huge plus.

- Must be 18+ with a clean valid driver's license
- Must have a car available at all times; please do NOT apply if you do not have reliable transportation (gas costs are reimbursed if not using a company vehicle)
- Must be able to respond to emails and texts after-hours when emergencies arise
- Must be able to sit, stand, kneel, or use a computer for prolonged periods of time
- Must be able to lift and carry heavy items, as well as climb ladders
- Must have flexible shift availability, including nights and weekends, for scheduled maintenance and/or emergencies
- Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as strong telephone and customer service skills (strong writing skills are a REQUIREMENT)
- Must possess strong analytical skills, and effective interpersonal relationship skills

Job Details (DO NOT APPLY IF YOU DO NOT MEET THESE REQUIREMENTS):
- Interact heavily with customers via telephone, email (proper writing skills are a MUST), and in-person.
- Assist and educate/train customers on use of our products and services.
- Ability to absorb and comprehend computer functions and features to effectively troubleshoot and resolve issues related to software and hardware applications.
- Participate in team meetings, providing input and suggestions to further increase productivity.
- Learn new programs and methods as required (you will need to be incredibly savvy figuring out new technologies).
- Perform other various duties as assigned, even if they do not directly relate to job title.
- Lift up to 40lbs
- Work on-call shifts as needed

Required Technical Experience:
- Basic knowledge of a computer, its parts, and general inner-workings
- Basic knowledge of computer networking, security, and storage fundamentals
- Basic knowledge of backup and storage architecture
- Basic ability to troubleshoot standard electronics (e.g. computers, printers, televisions, etc).
- Basic ability to build a new computer, or replace parts on an existing computer such as laptop screens/keyboards

- Should have basic knowledge for at least TWO of the following server side operating systems and applications:
-- Windows Server 2016/2022
-- Virtualization (Hyper-V and VMWare...KVM, Xen, and OpenVZ are a BONUS)

-- Windows Active Directory and Group Policy (modifying GPOs)
-- Unix-based platforms (BONUS)
-- cPanel/WHM (BONUS)

The following are a list of things that are a plus, but not required:
- CompTIA A+, Network+ or Linux+ Certifications
- CCENT, CCNA, & CCNP Certifications
- Basic website design skills such as editing small sections of HTML or CSS, and administering Wordpress/Drupal environments
- Hands on experience with installing computer cabling such as punching down cat5e/6 patch panels, or running cable drops
- Hands on experience using power tools to do basic tasks such as mounting TVs or server cabinets
- Familiar with fiber environments such as types of fiber, SFPs, etc
- Experience with scripting and automation
- Experience with Juniper/Vyatta/Cisco routing/switching platforms including routing protocols such as RIP, OSPF, and BGP (HUGE PLUS)
- Configuring VLANs, router firewall policies, and other mid-level networking experience (HUGE PLUS)
- SQL and Database Service Knowledge (HUGE PLUS)
- Familiar with deploying and maintaining Apache configurations (HUGE PLUS)
- Able to support various mail servers such as Exchange, Exim, and Sendmail (HUGE PLUS)
- Experience with physically configuring and deploying servers in a data center environment (HUGE PLUS)
- Ability to compile Linux applications: PHP, Apache, Kernel, FTP, MySQL (HUGE PLUS)
