General Description and Classification Standards
The Meter Applications Specialist is responsible for maintaining registers and meters and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of the process; and providing excellent customer service in accordance with the City of Atlanta Customer Commitment.
The Meter Applications Specialist utilizes computer systems (Maximo, Hansen, enQuesta and City Works) to enter data and recordkeeping as required by the City of Atlanta Code of Ordinances and Departmental policies.
Supervision Received
Works under general supervision. Proactively collaborates with manager, colleagues, interdepartmental staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Accurately enters all information into applicable software systems for receiving issue tickets.
- Accurately processes invoices and packing slips to ensure prompt payment to vendors.
- Maintains a working knowledge of inventory and billing systems required to assist in location and issuing material.
- Maintains storage of issue tickets in compliance with City of Atlanta document retention requirements.
- Maintains compliance with written procedures and verbal instructions.
- Maintains ability to adapt to and keep abreast of changes in procedures via ongoing training and updates.
- Diagnoses and analyzes issues as they apply to issue tickets for registers and meters; has ability to research the history of an issue, present workable solutions and/or validate the historical process.
- Responds proactively to other duties as assigned including special projects.
Decision Making
The Meter Applications Specialist must be able to determine the best practice based on known internal and external departmental policies. Proactively researches historical practices within internal and external departments.

Routinely provides training and instruction to less experienced colleagues.
