The Associate, Government Relations - Southeast will lead RWE Clean Energy Government Relations state-level activities in the the southeastern United States.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze proposed legislation, amendments, and proposals to determine Company impacts and positions
- Manage internal stakeholder feedback and position development process on legislative proposals
- Develop, in coordination with the Director of Government Relations – East, strategies to advance Company positions through legislation/advocacy
- Interact with state legislative & executive branch government officials and staff to manage political risk for our technologies/projects
- Communicate Company positions persuasively to key decision-makers
- Evaluate and direct external consultants in promoting Company positions on state legislation
- Coordinate relationship building and manage regional trade association relationships to promote Company positions and direct resources to issues as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, Energy, Business, or related field required
- Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience required
- Previous government/legislative experience a plus
- Familiarity with energy or renewable energy preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage customer relationships
- Demonstrated desire to learn about the Company and the renewables space
- Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
- Strong leadership and communication, and ability to meet deadlines
- Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
- Ability to multi-task, while working independently and as part of a team
- Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
- Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
- Responds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachable
- Is detail-oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business concepts
- Willingness to travel approximately once a month required
