POSITION SUMMARY
The primary role of the Medical Scribe is to collaborate with the clinical care team in the documentation of a patient's electronic medical record as well as acting as an assistant in facilitating patient care. Scribes may physically interact with the patient and family under the direction of a Care Team Member.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITES
- Accompany members of the care team upon patient interview and examination.
- Document in the electronic medical record elements that have been delegated by the care team including but not limited to elements of the history, examination, or ongoing care.
- Document the correct time of patient care related activities such as assessments, vital signs, or interventions.
- Provide comfort aids such as pillows, blankets, and fluids upon patient request if approved by the care team.
- Assist in acquisition of supplies as directed by the care team.
- Provide service to patients and families with sensitivity and respect for their needs, expectations, age, cultural and individual differences.
- Demonstrate effective communication with other members of the health care team and promotes effective team functioning.
- Respond to patient's call lights.
- Stock patient rooms with gloves and stocks PPE cabinets.
- Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
- Demonstrate dependability, reliability, and flexibility.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Work Experience: Not required
Licensure: Not Required
Certification: AHA, Heartsaver CPR AED upon hire (within 30 days)
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Completion of an approved Medical Terminology Course or upon hire (within 30 days).
- Basic knowledge and ability to navigate a computer system.
- Typing skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Work Experience: Previous Healthcare experience preferred.
Licensure: Not required.
Certification: AHA, Heartsaver CPR AED upon hire (within 30 days).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (ADA, Travel, Environment, Noise)
- Physically agile; may require walking, standing running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing or crouching frequently.
- Medium work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, with or without assistance.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
