Description:
JOB PURPOSE:
Responsible for managing and maintaining patient health records. Responsible for safeguarding patient records and ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards. Works as part of a Medical Records department under direct supervision.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide customer service to patients, internal customers and third party vendors.
2. Responsible for organizing and scanning documents.
3. Completing release of information requests.
4. Understand and comply with HIPAA and Compliance policies.
5. Identify errors and duplications within the patients medical record.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
Skill and ability to write simple correspondence and communicate effectively both verbally and in-writing.
Knowledge of modern office equipment/EMR systems
Maintain excellent customer service with high call volume
Ability to operate personal computer and scanning system
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and to effectively anticipate and respond to issues as needed in a dynamic work environment.
Knowledge of the impact that vital records support has on Revenue Cycle operations and financial performance.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
High School Diploma or GED.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
One (1) year of experience in health information management or a clinical setting.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience working in healthcare preferred.
