Position Description: Responsible for the accurate storing and retrieval of Medical Records for the purpose of release to external and internal sources
- Organize and maintain Medical Records in a medical office setting
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of patient information
- Retrieve and file Medical Records as needed
- Follow established procedures for record storage and confidentiality
- Assist with record audits and quality assurance measures
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure timely access to patient records
- Provide support in locating and retrieving specific Medical Records for patient care purposes
Essential Duties andResponsibilities:
- Process the requests of patient records by retrieving and transmitting from various sources.
- Access EMR system to upload patient records in individual files ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
- Process new patient referrals received by clinical staff, EMR system, and schedules accordingly.
- Follow HIPAA, state, and federal confidentiality guidelines to ensure patient records are securely monitored and released.
- Meet deadlines to ensure medical providers have access to patient records as determined by guidelines.
- Maintain patient record release log.
- Assist clinical and front desk staff with patient scheduling and calls as needed.
- Provide professional and courteous customer service.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology.
- 2 years of Medical Records experience.
- Experienced with EHR (Allscripts preferred).
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with medical office procedures
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
- Proficient computer skills, including experience with electronic health record systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Note: Previous experience working in a Medical Records or healthcare setting is preferred but not required. Training will be provided.

Salary: $16.50 - $18.50 per hour
