The Medical Receptionist is responsible for welcoming and assisting patients and visitors. Primary job duties include greeting patients, checking in/checking out, answering questions, collecting patient co-pays, processing paperwork, scheduling appointments, coordinating incoming telephone traffic, and appropriately managing calls.
Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:
- Provide excellent customer service, by welcoming patients and visitors in the clinic and exceptional telephone etiquette when taking incoming calls
- Examine providers daily schedule's and retrieve patient files, check for correct sequence of documents, and insert new patient forms when needed
- Provide patient assistance by scheduling, canceling, rescheduling appointments or provide general information regarding appointment date, time, instructions, and expectations
- Update any changes to patients' demographics in Electronic Health Record (EHR), under correct tabs
- Follow established policies and procedures when managing different topics
- Verify patient financial records and collect patient charges, such as co-pays, past due balance or pre-payments
- Maintain office inventory and equipment by anticipating supply needs and coordinate re-ordering
- Retrieve incoming faxes, and obtain delivered mail. Open and sort office mail and faxes and distribute to appropriate personnel
- Must be able to multitask and possess critical thinking skills to effectively cross-reference multiple provider schedules
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus, experience preferred.
