MEDICAL RECEPTIONIST JOB DESCRIPTION
REQUIREMENTS:
· Bilingual (English/Spanish)
· High school diploma
· Minimum 2 year experience
· Experience with insurance verification & prior authorizations
· Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding
· Knowledge of various insurance plans/payers (HMO, PPO, etc) is required
· Excellent customer service
· Excellent verbal and written communication
· Excellent multi-tasking and time management skills
· Excellent attendance record, punctual and team leaser
· A high level of organizational skills
· Ability to exercise a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making to achieve organizational objectives
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical and administrative staff
· Ability to work well independently and be detailed-oriented, but also interact well with a team
· Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions
· Proficiency in relevant computer hardware and software (Microsoft Office- Word, Excel, Powerpoint), as well as EMR systems, and other standard medical office equipment
GENERAL SUMMARY:
A non-exempt medical office position responsible for maintaining the front office and representing the practice with professionalism. This position requires multi-tasking effortlessly, prioritizing efficiently, handling patient requests, placing outbound calls to patients, and handling all administrative tasks with a positive attitude (to include patient check-in, check-out, receiving payments, and answering telephones)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (The descriptions are not considered all-inclusive)
· Adheres to and supports the mission, purpose, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of the practice
· Adheres to the HIPAA Compliance Plan and the Privacy Standards Confidentiality Agreement
· Greets patients immediately upon their arrival and provides excellent customer service
· Check patients in verifying demographics and insurance
· Directs patients to proper exam/treatment room
· Utilizes electronic health record for tasks assigned
· Evaluates daily schedules to accommodate patient flow and minimize missed appointments
· Handles patient calls and effectively manages schedule
· Completes referrals and authorizations as needed
· Checks patients out and makes appointments as indicated
· Collects co-pays and patient payments
· Performs other tasks as assigned
· Scanning pertinent patient information into EMR
· Track all phone calls that arrive using our general office number
· Respond to emails that arrive using the general office email address
· Working closely with physician to schedule patient appoints, surgery dates, and provide patients with fee quotes
· Provides patients with information regarding cost of procedures
· Ability to explain financial requirements to the patients and collect co-pays and past due balances, when applicable
· Work collaboratively with the billing office as a liaison between the patient, the center, and the billing office
· Maintain a neat and clean work environment and professional appearance
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 per week
