Medical Receptionist

Busy Family Practice Physician office in Newark, DE is currently seeking a full time Medical Receptionist / medical assistant.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Greet and register patients and visitors in a courteous, helpful and professional manner
• Obtain and accurately record appropriate patient demographic information
• Accurately complete necessary paperwork
• Verify medical insurance eligibility and benefits
• Scan and upload documents to patient electronic medical records
• Label incoming electronic faxes and upload them to the patient's chart in the EMR
• Conform to all HIPAA regulations and maintain strict patient confidentiality
• Schedule patient appointments
• Collect co-pays and payments, provide receipts, and record information appropriately
• Competently utilize the computer system, including look up, accurate data entry, and generating information and/or reports as needed
• Answer telephone, document phone messages via electronic medical records system
• Send faxes, retrieve and route incoming faxes
• Timely and courteously assist patients with the check-out process
• Maintain a neat and clean work environment and professional appearance
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills:

• At least 1-2 years of experience in a medical office/clinic setting
• Ability to take basic patient vitals – blood pressure and weight
• Computer efficiency: excellent typing skills, knowledge of web based applications, MS Office and MS Excel Etc.
• Experience with Navinet/ Availity and Practice Fusion EMR preferred
• Knowledge of insurance eligibility checks

• High School diploma/GED
