As a Medical Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for patients visiting our medical facility or contacting us by phone. Your primary responsibility is to ensure efficient and friendly communication between patients, healthcare providers, and administrative staff. You will handle a variety of administrative tasks to facilitate the smooth operation of the medical office, including scheduling appointments, maintaining patient records, and managing insurance information. The ideal candidate for this role is organized, detail-oriented, and possesses excellent communication and customer service skills.
Responsibilities:
- Greet patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
- Answer phone calls, schedule appointments, and manage the appointment calendar.
- Collect patient information and insurance details accurately and update patient records.
- Verify insurance coverage and process insurance claims.
- Handle patient inquiries and provide information about services, procedures, and appointment availability.
- Direct patients to the appropriate department or healthcare provider.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the reception area.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and photocopying.
- Ensure compliance with privacy regulations and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Collaborate with medical staff and other administrative personnel to ensure efficient workflow.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in medical office administration is a plus.
- Previous experience in a medical office or customer service role preferred.
- Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
