JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Medical Receptionist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for our patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience. As a Medical Receptionist, you will play a crucial role in supporting the clinic's operations and providing exceptional customer service to our patients. Your expertise and dedication will help ensure that our medical services maintain the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
FRONT DESK OPERATIONS:
- Greet patients and visitors warmly upon arrival and ensure a friendly and professional atmosphere in the reception area.
- Handle incoming calls, answer inquiries, and redirect calls as necessary.
- Schedule patient appointments, ensuring accuracy in timing and clinic resources.
PATIENT REGISTRATION AND RECORDS MANAGEMENT:
- Assist patients with registration and paperwork completion.
- Maintain and update patient records accurately and confidentially, in the electronic medical records (EMR) system.
- Verify patient insurance information and collect co-payments as needed.
ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT:
- Provide administrative support to the medical staff and management as required.
- Manage office supplies inventory and ensure adequate stock levels.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the lobby area, including regular cleaning and sanitizing.
COMMUNICATION AND COORDINATION:
- Communicate effectively with patients, staff, and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate with healthcare providers to ensure a smooth patient flow and scheduling.
- Verify insurance eligibility and coverage details for patients.
ADHERENCE TO PROTOCOLS AND COMPLIANCE:
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinic policies regarding patient confidentiality.
- Adhere to established protocols for patient registration, appointment scheduling, and record- keeping.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; certification or some college coursework in healthcare administration or related field preferred.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification are highly desirable.
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar role within a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems or similar software.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to handle patient inquiries effectively.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification processes is an asset.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Administrative Medical Assistant Certification
- Proficiency in utilizing eCW [eClinical Works] and office software, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and, Adobe, for data entry, generating reports, and performing administrative tasks efficiently.
