MEDICAL OFFICE ASSISTANT

Well-established nurse practitioner, acupuncture, chiropractic,naturopathic, injury rehabilitation practice in Farmington needs a friendly, personable, sharp, self-motivated, detail oriented, articulate, dependable, computer literate individual for office duties. Help make a difference in the health of our community while working in a positive environment with a fantastic team. Medical office assistant experience is desirable, but not required. Training is available.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Answer and direct phone calls with exceptional customer service
• Handle and coordinate new and existing patient appointment scheduling
• Obtain patient, billing and insurance information in order to maintain current and accurate information in the patient files in our electronic medical records system
• Prepare forms and reports
• Perform general clerical functions as necessary including filing, copying, scanning, faxing
• Preparation of physician letters and related correspondence
• Have a working knowledge of all front desk duties
• Become proficient in explaining all patient services performed in the office
• Assist the doctor in aspects of patient care if/when called upon to do so
• Verify insurance eligibility of patients as needed and obtain necessary authorizations
• Advise patients of their financial responsibility, obtain payment agreements for their portion, and collect payments on time
• Maintain proper handling of cash and credit receipts, and preparation bank deposits
• Assist with general equipment cleaning, disinfection and clinical aesthetics
• Perform other duties or special projects as assigned
