DESCRIPTION: Teach Medical Office Assistant Skills to Adults
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan and deliver instruction that supports participants in making realistic career plans. Use a variety of instructional methods to reach students of diverse backgrounds and English language abilities. Report attendance in a timely manner using the attendance accounting system. Complete and submit all required data and accountability documentation in a timely manner.
QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of the US healthcare system, the range of allied health careers and qualifications for these careers, HIPAA, infection control and standard precautions, medical ethics, career planning, and goal-setting. Ability to work productively with students from a wide range of backgrounds and English language abilities. Ability to work collaboratively with career coaches and other program personnel. Work experience in healthcare is strongly preferred.
Valid, non-emergency California teaching credential authorizing instruction to adults in the subject area (Community College credential is not applicable).
NOTE: Assignment to this position is made subject to change and/or cancellation if circumstances warrant.
Other requirements: All applicants should prepare and submit a lesson plan, and bring it to the interview. A demonstration lesson may be part of the interview process.
This position meets 3 hours on three evenings a week, for four 9-week terms. Additional hours to teach Medical Terminology 1.5 hours for three evenings a week is available; the MOA instructor is strongly encouraged to take this additional assignment. MOA Curriculum binders are available.
