Northern California PET Imaging Center is seeking a Front Office Medical Assistantto join an already dynamic team. We are looking for a candidate that is customer service-oriented and thrives in a constantly changing or fast-paced environment. The Front Office Medical Assistant provides support to staff with daily activities of a medical office including filing, telephone coverage, appointment scheduling, registration, and patient referrals by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Others could be added.
- Welcomes on-site visitors, determines nature of business, and announces visitors to appropriate personnel.
- Registers patients by verifying that patient's record is up to date and accurate by making the appropriate changes in computer system and on patient's chart.
- Prepares, organizes, and maintains a filing system for patient charts, including generating chart numbers, filing, and pulling charts.
- Answers the telephone and responds to inquiry, directs caller to appropriate personnel, or initiates a triage slip for response by medical personnel.
- Retrieves messages from voice mail and forwards to appropriate personnel.
- Takes note and delivers messages or transfers calls to voice mail when appropriate personnel are unavailable.
- Answers questions about organization and provides callers with address, directions, and other information.
- Schedules appointments using a computerized scheduler and conducts reminder calls to all patients.
- Collects payment from patients.
- Prepares next day patient paperwork.
- Ensures all prior images are received prior to patient appointments.
- Creates CDs when requested from outside facilities, noting in patient chart.
- Maintains fax machines, assists users, sends faxes, and retrieves and routes incoming faxes.
- Prints fax cover sheets, memos, correspondence, reports, and other documents when necessary.
- Performs other clerical duties as needed, such as filing, photocopying, and collating.
- Assists the Technologist with the start-up and shutdowns of the mobile coach and prepares it for travel by making sure it is well stocked and clean.
- Provides patient support as necessary by escorting patients to and from the coach and assisting with paperwork.
- Assists technologist with entering patient and QC data into clinical computers.
Qualifications:
- Required: One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Preferred: Knowledge of navigating the Internet, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and NextGen software.
Compensation:
- $20-$25 commensurate with experience
