Medical Collection Specialist

Overview:
Busy multi-specialty outpatient surgical facility seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Collector to join our team. As a Medical Collector, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the timely and accurate collection of medical payments. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical billing processes, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Duties:
- Review and analyze medical claims for accuracy and completeness
- Follow up with insurance companies to resolve claim denials or discrepancies. Medicare, PPO, Work Comp, HMO, Tricare are all present.
- Communicate with patients regarding outstanding balances and payment options
- Utilize knowledge of ICD-10 codes and medical terminology to accurately code claims
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to obtain necessary documentation for claim submission
- Stay up-to-date on industry regulations, including HIPAA guidelines, to ensure compliance
- Maintain accurate records of all collection activities

Qualifications:
- Previous experience in facility Medical Collections preferred (ASC specifically)
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10 coding, and billing procedures
- Familiarity with insurance claim processing and reimbursement guidelines
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00 - $31.50 per hour
